Etchings: The First Twelve

In 1983-84 Harold Joe Waldrum began making aquatint etchings.

Waldrum had dreamed of overlapping translucent layers of color in the sky, sheers of hanging chiffon, through which he floated. He wrote about the dream and the etching process he devised based on the dream in his essay “Veils of Color.”

54 complete sets of the first 12 etchings, also known as “The Sombras Suite,” were made.  Each etching is hand-numbered and signed by the artist. Contact us for details on purchasing a complete set.
